European Investment Bank HQ

This office fit out in the City of London transformed a dull, out of date office into a modern workspace for international staff working in financial services. A curved timber wall organises and integrates storage areas, kitchens, coffee machines and water points calming the remainder of the space. A row of offices is formed with black joinery punctuated with slot windows and framed nooks for display. The row ends with a glass tube meeting room. The entrance space and board room use stretched ceilings to diffuse light and create a crisp aesthetic. "BMA architects were asked to develop proposals to refurbish the London office of the European Investment Bank to provide a more flexible and prestigious working environment, whilst retaining the existing access floor and suspended ceiling. The office represents the European Investment Bank in London supported by a small number of permanent staff that hosts a varying number of other visiting staff who might use the office as a base for anything from a few hours to several days. The architects worked very closely with us to establish our main areas of concern, such as the fragmented office space for visiting staff and the lack of identity on arrival. We are extremely pleased with result that has transformed our workplace. The office now has a very modern feel to it whilst the materials, detailing and lighting set an impressive tone for visitors. Visiting staff particularly enjoy coming to spend time in the London office”European Investment Bank Client: European Investment Bank
