Brady
Mallalieu Architects have recently completed the remodeling
and extension of a private house in Co. Dublin to convert
a standard inward looking dated suburban house into a contemporary
light and spacious bespoke house.
All
that remained of the original 1960's detached house were two
ground floor and two first floor rooms. Most was demolished
to make way for the new.
The
5 bedroom house now has a three storey high open living space
in which the first floor master bedroom cube protrudes into this space on
stilts, clad in American white oak. Below it on the ground
floor there is a raised dining platform overlooking the main
living room and adjacent kitchen.
