This project combines a new cultural and community centre for the Sheffield Irish community with a 40 flat extra care elderly housing development.
The cultural centre consists of a multi purpose hall with cafe, bar restaurant, a community resource centre, community group offices and facilities, shops and a children’s centre.
The housing for Irish elders has 40 one and two bedroom flats with central facilities of a community room with restaurant, gym and aqua therapy centre, chapel and laundry facilities. The development is grouped around a south facing courtyard with the massing of the building designed to acoustically protect the scheme from the road. The connections to the adjacent community centre will add extra facilities and social opportunities for the housing residents.
