Careers in architecture - Drawing the built environment
Brady Mallalieu have been involved with primary and secondary schools for 15 years, every year they adopt a school and give talks in the classroom to introduce school kids to architecture and the built environment. Angela Brady made the schools video 'Designers of our future' showcasing several careers in architecture; structural engineering, landscaping, interior design, project management and film making. In the project Thomas Heatherwick acted as client and the school pupils designed a house for Thomas with a sculpture garden and an art studio which had to be low carbon design. The winning team were presented with a professionally made model of their project at the RIBA as part of a programme to bring architecture into the classroom.
Angela Brady also produced the video 'The Role of the Architect - Why Study Architecture?' with Colin Conroy of Video Productions Ltd. The aim of the production was to give an insight into architecture and give a better understanding of what architects do in practice and what to expect from the university course as a whole. Brady Mallalieu have taken part in educational mentoring schemes and promoted diversity within the profession.
