Designed for construction by the 28 participants of the reality ITV show “Building the Dream’, the house was built in 65 days and followed the TV filming schedule which aired three times per day. Director Angela Brady was co-presenter on the show and appeared weekly over the 14 week period explaining how the building was to be made and helping contestants make design decisions along the way. It was won by the final two contestants and was valued at £500,000, the highest TV prize at the time.

The house is organised as three separate elements in response to the rural grain of the village and agricultural building precedents. The focus of the house is an octagonal kitchen with a high ceiling which reflects the local context in the area.
